Grand National Novice Pairs

Thursday, 18 November 2021 by Paul Brake

The club held on Thursday 18 November the qualifying heat of the inaugural Grand National Novice Pairs, a new Australian-wide event on the ABF calendar. Some very interesting hands were played by our competitors (who had under 100 Masterpoints at the cut off date).

After the session, an expert analysis of a selection of boards was provided in video format by two bridge experts, Australian Representative players, Peter Hollands and Justin Mill.

This video presentation was put on in conjunction with the club providing drinks and nibbles so we could sit back and watch the video, and make this after-match get together both a social and an interactive educational event. The video analysis (and a further specialised report) is available to players on line after the session.

Five pairs qualified from our club heat to progress to the semi-final (which will be conducted on-line) - congratulations to Elinor McCloskey and Di Court, Lee Lethbridge and Caroline Ausden, Alan Kestenberg and John Lemarchand, David Lewis and Xiaohong Zhou and Rae Bocher & Carolyn Jordon.

Here are some photos of during the playing session and watching the post match video.
